Scott Shenker spent his academic youth studying theoretical physics but soon gave up chaos theory for computer science. Continuing to display a remarkably short attention span, his research over the years has wandered from performance modeling and networking to game theory and economics. Unable to focus on any single topic, his current research projects include software-defined networking, network function virtualization, data analytics, and Internet architecture. Unable to hold a steady job, he currently splits his time between the U. C. Berkeley Computer Science Department and the International Computer Science Institute.

I’m a Computer Science graduate at Berkeley, originally hailing from Pakistan. I’m deeply passionate about CS, and the role women can play in advancing technology. I’m quite adventurous and I absolutely love traveling, hiking and swimming. I’m also a huge foodie and love to sleep.

Hi everyone! I'm a 4th year EECS student from San Jose, CA. I'm interested in a wide variety of problems in systems and machine learning. I also love basketball (playing, watching, and rooting for the Warriors!), cooking, and watching TV (Game of Thrones especially)!

I'm a fifth year Master's student advised by Scott Shenker. I am broadly interested in the systems side of computer science, including Internet architecture, network virtualization, and systems security. In my free time, I follow sports (NBA and MLB) and play video games (NBA 2K and Melee).

I'm a 3rd year systems PhD student working on smarter, sustainable infrastructure for buildings. I'm a NorCal native who loves jazz (especially anything by Bill Evans) and baking sourdough bread (I've been baking a loaf a week for the past 3 years).

Hi! I am a fourth year EECS major. I am interested in distributed systems and networking of course. When I am not studying, you can find me jamming out to some music, brewing and drinking espresso or playing board games.

Hey everyone! I'm a third year undergraduate studying EECS. I focus in AI/ML, but I enjoyed this class so much I decided to come back to TA! In my free time, I like following sports (basketball and football), playing video games (CS:GO), and cooking (very badly) new stuff so I don't starve.

Hello everyone, I'm Matt, a fourth year EECS major from Maryland. I like a lot of things, from eating to sleeping to exercise to video games and beyond, but most of all, I love computer science! Where CS is concerned, I'm interested in networks and distributed systems.

I'm Michael, a 2nd year PhD student where I work for/with Scott Shenker. I originate from Saratoga but spent four years in Princeton before returning to California. I research in cloud computing, microservice management, and distributed systems, and I'm always looking for curious and hardworking undergrad researchers to come work with me. I have a love-hate relationship with cats. Feel free to come to office hours to convince me in either direction.

Hey guys! My name is Nikhil, and I'm a 4th year EECS and Engineering Math/Stats major. I grew up here in the Bay Area (shoutout to Fremont people), and I love to eat, sleep, run, swim, and binge watch Netflix. I find pretty much much all areas of computer science to be fascinating but I particularly liked taking CS 168, and so I decided to join the course staff for this class.

Hi there! (◕ヮ◕) I'm a fourth year undergrad studying EECS. I'm from Torrance, LA. In my spare time, I like to sleep a lot. I'm teaching this class because networking literally makes the world go 'round, and that's super cool.

Hi, I'm a 4th year CS major from Cupertino, CA. I have previously been on the course staff for 61C and 188. I enjoy taking naps, photography, sleeping, traveling, catching some z's, and eating. My favorite way to use the Internet is to scroll endlessly through memes and watch hours of pointless Youtube videos.

Hi! I'm a third year EECS major primarily interested in systems and networks, which is why I research at the NetSys lab. I enjoy potatoes, Pusheen (all cute things tbh), board games, and baking. My hobbies include advocating for carb consumption, drinking coffee, and watching Netflix -- I just started House of Cards!
